Nanakusa Gayu

The last one is Nanakusa Gayu!

It's kind of rice porridge and It's eaten in January 7.

The reason why people eat it in the end of New Year Holidays is to rest one's stomach.

During the happy holidays, people eat Osechi, Ozoni, and other special dish.

So it's necessary to rest sited stomach and rice porridge is suits dish for it.

Also people eat it with wish to remove any sickness.

It taste very mild and bland.

Nanakusa means seven vegetable so it contains many kind of vegetable.

Can you say all of the name?

Seri (Water drop wort), Nazuna (Shepherd’s purse), Gogyou (Cud weed), Hakobera (Chickweed), Hotokenoza (Nipple wort), Suzuna (Turnip) and Suzushiro (Japanese radish).

I've told you about three dish for this season.

I think seasonal dish is very unique and we can enjoy special food and feel its season from dish!

Ozoni

Next dish is Ozoni!

Did you eat it a lot during the New Year holidays?
Ozoni is soup dish contains Mochi (rice cake).

However, there are many kind of Ozoni in Japan.

Ingredients are not only rice cake but also many kind of vegetable.

Soup is also different.

Interestingly, it depends on the religion!

For example, soup of my grandparent on my father’s side made of red miso.

On the other side, my mother’s side one made of white miso.

So today, I introduce Ozoni of white miso.

It’s taste sweet and kind of heavy and ingredients are only rice cake and Japanese radish.

Please remember to put a piece of dried bonito in it!

I think it's interesting to eat and compare the ozoni of each religion.

Toshikoshi Soba

Today, I introduce three dish for the end of the year and the New Year.

First is Toshikoshi Soba!

Did you eat it in New Year’s Eve?

Eating Toshikoshi Soba with my family is our custom.

However, I couldn’t eat it this time because of the part-time job which was staff of the countdown concert.

So it was a little late but I ate it after I finished working and came back home.

For me, Toshikoshi Soba is one of the important and special dish to feel the New Year.

Toshikoshi Soba is very simple dish.

Just boil soba (buckwheat) and eat with sauce dip.

Put the shrimp tempura or herring.

Also, leek is necessary.

By the way, do you know the meaning of the Toshikoshi Soba?

A general origin is wish to be live thin and long like soba.

It means that it's good to live a long although make a poor living.

soymilk nabe

It is pretty cold recentry and I realized feel winter afresh.

Talking of winter, I think nabe!

So, I did the nabe party with my friend.

There are many kind of nabe, for example, mizudaki(0rdinaly nabe), kimuchi nabe, motsunabe, and so on.

We were greatly exercised which nabe we'll eat because all kinds of nabe are very delicious.

Finally, we decided to make soymilk nabe.

Have you ever eaten it?

It was first time to eat not only soynilk nabe but also soymilk.

I had thought that soymilk is not so good and it doesn't suit the soup of nabe.

However, it was mild and taste good.

We prepared pork, tohu, beansprout, leek, hackberry, vienna sausage and so on.

But anything suit nabe well, I think.

Why don't you eat soymilk nabe nabe with warming yourself at kotatsu in this cold season!

I ate motsu nabe(gut nabe) with my another friend last week.

It also tasted so good, so I recommend motsu nabe as well.

I love nabe!!

I seldom eat fish until now because it hard to cook it for me.

But I had been wanted to eat some kind of fish since I started to live by myself.

So, I decided to challenge it.

It was easy to cook beyond my exception.

Also, fish is very helthy and hearty, I think.

If you live by yourself, you should eat fish than meet.

This salmon is only burned, but it was delicious enough to satisfy.

If you have more time, why don't you meke saide dish.

Color is important, and if there is many color like this photo, I think it looks delicious.
